spiritual identity theft

“You’re worthless. Disgusting. The stuff you’ve done, the things you’ve seen and experienced….how can you go on living? Your sins forgiven? Ha! Who do you think you’re kidding?”

Lies. By the father of them all, who desires above all to destroy you, and in so doing, inflict wounds on The Lord God. The evil one’s lies are designed to steal your identity in Christ and replace it with isolation and despair.

Have you ever been there? Alone, fearful, anxious, guilt-ridden, shamed, despairing of hope? Have you? Are you now?

Do you remember what Jesus said to the woman whom the Pharisees had caught in adultery after he told them that the one who is without sin could cast the first stone in a public execution (John 8:1-11 NIV)? After they all walked away without a word? Remember?

He said, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”
“No one, sir,” she said.
“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

Forgiveness. Liberation. Not condemnation.

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit” (Romans 8:1-4 NIV).

You’re beautiful, precious, a special creation of God whom he values so highly he sent his one and only son, Jesus, to die on the cross for your sins so that you may forever be free and whole, liberated from bondage and chosen to serve the King of Kings.

Powerful, yes? Be free, friend. Don’t buy the lies of the chief spiritual identity thief. Instead, follow hard after Jesus. And dance for joy….
