expressions and the perceptions they spawn

Drawing and Photo by Glen Alan Woods

Here is a first attempt to draw a simple character based on the instructions of a drawing book I am following. Although I penciled this drawing several weeks ago, it remains fresh in my mind. He appears to be kind of a sad-sack character, with doleful eyes and drooping eyelids. One wonders what expressions lie beneath the abundance of facial foliage. Is he happy? Mad? Sad? Sleepy? Only the imagination can dare attempt to ascertain his emotional state, hidden as it is behind the shaded etchings. It makes one wonder how children, ministry colleagues, and parents might perceive our expressions if we forget to remind our faces to reflect the hope we have in Christ and his love for everyone.
