Imagine that your back is against the wall. You have some decisions to make. About life, work, love, friendships, your relationship with God, your future. You are tired of being a victim of circumstances, or simply meandering about to the currents of economic whims and other people’s choices and desires. You realize that you must seek God’s will, but you also understand that you have power to choose.
What will you do? Where will you go? Whom will you love? How will your life be defined?
Will you be a spectator or an active participant? Will you play the part of victim or embrace the power God has given you to make choices?
Which will it be?
Life is waiting. Not terribly patiently, mind you. But even so, it is not too late to embrace the fullness of God’s destiny for you. Are you willing to take that risk? Are you willing to put yourself out there?
Your heart beats. Steadily. Without your conscious decision to make it beat. You have no such luxury in choosing to obey God. You have to make those decisions daily with conscious effort. To do so is to take up your cross. To do so is to enjoy fully the blessings God has for you.
Yes, there will be suffering, but there will also be joy. There will be obstacles, but there will also be peace. There will be sacrifice, but there will also be hope. By God’s grace you will prevail.
