It wasn’t so long ago that the teen to the left of the boy in this photo, now 16 and 6’5″, was just a little guy not much taller than his co-conspirator in a game of charades. Now he has grown up into a fine young man with a bright future ahead of him. I remember having to kneel to communicate with him. Now he is gracious enough to do the same for me. :)
Time gives perspective as I watch each generation come of age. I am encouraged to know that the young people are rising up with hearts for God and for service, wherever that might lead them. I count it a privilege to partner with them in reaching the littlest ones of our families, nurturing them and training them up in the ways of the Lord. Children’s and family ministry is an intergenerational effort, requiring the intentional cooperation of all the generations in our homes, neighborhoods and our church campuses. I feel privileged to be a small part of the ministry in my faith community.
